New Update

A new update to script has been released. It includes few bug fixes and many new features. Go to customers area of website to download it, list of code changes will soon be available in customers area of this forum.

New features in today's release:
- Ability to uninstall styles on all hosted forums.
- Ability to update forums to latest phpbb (in case if you have restored backup of old version).
- New advertising module: now you can set custom ads per multiple forums, categories, domains or based on style used by forum. You can select any combinations of those settings.
- Emails sent by phpBBHS are now handled by one function that uses plugin system, so it is possible to write a module for SMTP or any other custom way of sending out emails (I did not write such module, but customers now can do it).
- Ability to repair tables of single forum from control panel.
- Ability to put several databases in rotation that will be used for new registrations to spread out database load.
- Support for servers that use IIS instead of Apache (not fully tested yet, but seems to work).

Sorry for delay, phpBB 3.0.2 has been released almost a week ago, but script is not updated to 3.0.2 yet. It might take few more days for me to make an update, I'll post in this thread when its ready.

edit: script has been updated to 3.0.2. Updated version is available in customers area of website, list of changes is available in customers area of this forum.

phpBBHS has been updated for phpBB 3.0.1

Note: to access that forum you must have a valid license. If you have a valid license and can't see forum, login at website and enter your forum name in your profile and you'll immediately get access to customers forum.

Before updating to 3.0.1 make sure you are using latest phpBBHS version. Update includes script that will automatically update databases of all your hosted forums.

You can signup to that forum thread to always get notifications of updates. Only major updates are announced in announcements forum, but there are quite a lot of other updates that include bug fixes and new features.

New phpBBHS Features

phpBB hosting script has been released almost 2 weeks ago, but that doesn't mean that development has stopped. There have been few more releases available to customers and each of them included more and more features.

Some of the most important features added since official release:
- Mass email. Hosting script admin can send emails to all forums or selected group of forums. There are several options to personalize emails for every forum and it is possible to send out html emails by adding email headers.
- Script no longer requires to be installed in website root directory. Now it can work from a subdirectory, for example http://www.yourforumhost.com/v3/
- Hosting script admin can set custom configuration for certain forums to enable/disable some of phpBB features.

I've setup a demo of phpBB hosting script at test website.

Demo of control panel is available here. Click on link to control panel demo and you'll see almost full control panel. Some features are disabled for security reasons, and you shouldn't be able to change anything (and if you can, then I forgot to change something and please inform me about it).

I'm happy to announce final version of phpBB Hosting Script.

It is a fully functional stable version that includes all features I was planning to add to first official release and as far as I know it doesn't have any bugs.

List of features have been updated on main website page to reflect most important features that exist in final version. Demo is not available yet, but I'm planning to add it in next few weeks. Until then there are screenshots available on website and demo of fully working version is available on request (pm me for url).

I'd like to thank all customers who have purchased preview and beta versions and have tested them. I have extended all currently existing licenses that are supposed to expire this year to next year.

Even though version is final, it does not mean development stops. I will be constantly adding more features and updating script as well as upgrading it and fixing bugs. List of all changes as well as upgrade instructions will be published in customers area of this forum.

Added one more beta to client area.

This beta version has all features that will be in final phpBBHS. In the next few days I'll add some more tweaks and will extensively test it to make sure everything works, then will release as final version.

Hello,

I'm pleased to announce first beta version of phpBB Hosting Script. It is available in customers area for everyone who has purchased a license.

It is stable enough to be used on live websites, and it will be upgradable to final version, so download it and have fun

Notes:
- Few functions are still missing.
- Forum search and forum editor modules are not finished yet. They are working, but you cannot delete forums yet, search options and editing are very limited.
- There might be bugs. If you find one, please report it via customers area of support forum and I'll fix it as soon as possible.
- I think I've disabled all dangerous functions that forum admins should not have access to, but it is possible that I've missed something, so please test phpBB control panel of hosted forums and report anything weird.
- Upgrade instructions between different beta versions, release candidates and final version will be posted in client area.

I'm planning to release final version in about a week or so.

phpBB team has just announced release date for phpBB 3 Gold - it will be released on 13 Dec, which is in 3 days from now.

As I've posted before, this script will be released within 2-4 weeks after phpBB 3 gold release, and I intend to meet that time frame.

Hello,

A little update on status. As you know, phpBB 3 RC3 has just been released, so phpBB 3 final shouldn't be far away.

I was expecting to finish script before phpBB 3 final is released, but looks like it might take a little bit longer. There have been few delays caused by some personal problems (damn cold weather and flu), so recent development was quite slow, but now I'm back and development will continue as fast as possible.

Currently 2 weeks old preview version is available in client area, next preview will be added in a few days.

And one more little bug fix: I just noticed there was big red message "website is not ready, do not register" on registration page.

Website is ready, it is fully functional. I just forgot to remove that big warning.

Script preview is available for clients. You can download it in customers area of website.

This preview is released for users:
- to see how script works.
- to be able to customise website. website template engine is complete.
- to work on custom modules.

It is not meant to be used on live websites because some phpBB 3 features have not been disabled yet.

Many features are not complete yet. This isn't beta version.

Updates will be added to customers area every few days, hovewer there won't be upgrade instructions for updates other than list of sql queries. You'll need to update files yourself by ether overwriting files or using some compare tool.

This is a small script status update. I've got good news and bad news:

Good news: paypal is now available on request. If a client can't use 2checkout for some reason, he can request a paypal transaction. 2checkout will still be a main payment method, with paypal being a backup method for customers who don't have proper credit cards.

Bad news: script release is slightly delayed because of my old laptop crash. It was a very old laptop, and it started overheating for no reason every few hours and crashing, so I have bought a Mac (yay, no more windows for me ) and moving all development stuff to it. It took few days to transfer and setup everything on new computer, and right now its almost ready, so I'll continue development very soon (probably today).

4 hours later edit: new computer is up and running, so work on script continues. already fixed few bugs that I didn't see before because I was developing on windows instead of unix
