So would that converter work for going from Seb's to phpBBHS? Or would that not be recommended?

And if I may ask, whats the timeframe on yours?

Thanks. :)

This "script" that you speak of.. the one that converts sebflipper's PHPbb2 forums to phpbb3 ---> how complex is this process? Like, what are the steps? Could you post the instructions here? That way, if I am able to convert my sebflipper forums, i'll purchase your script and convert everyone to phpbb3!

- Have you guys gotten it to work in a heavily modded (Subdomain / SEO Mod / eXtreme styles...etc) sebflipper multiforum?

Thanks!

Bump to this question.
It converts one forum at a time, not whole website, and doesn't add redirects to old forums.

One forum at a time isn't too big of a problem since it will be a one time thing. Will there be any problems converting over with the extreme styles mod? What happens when a style is being used on sebflipper that is unavailable on phpbbhs, will the forum become corrupted, or revert to the default style? Also now many styles come preloaded with phpbbhs?

What do you mean it doesn't add redirects to old forums? Little confused there.

Thanks.

Styles table is never converted by phpBB convertor, because styles for phpBB 2 are not compatible with phpBB 3.

phpBBHS doesn't come with any styles other than standard phpBB styles: proSilver and subSilver 2. Styles aren't modified in any way, so you can install any styles without modifications.

It means that when old forum is converted, its still accessable via old url and is working, just like usual phpBB 2 -> 3 forum conversion.

I've been using sebflippers script on autopilot for quite a while, so I'm not too well versed with phpBB conversions.

So any phpbb 3 style package will work with this script? Very nice.

I've never done a phpbb 2 ->3 conversion.... so if I am reading this right, you are basically saying that the old forum URL will still be used with your script after converting?

For example, I currently have the subdomain mod on sebflippers script. So if I have http://forum.domain.com right now, and I convert it over to your phpbb3 script, it will show the NEW phpbb3 forum at http://forum.domain.com correct?

No, that won't work.

You can convert database, just like usual phpBB conversion. New forum location would be ether in subdirectory, like forumname.yourwebsite.com/phpBB3/ or you'll have to host it on a different account with a different domain name like forumname.yourotherwebsite.com or forumname.3.yourwebsite.com

Another solution is to put redirects, I'm currently working on them for one client, but its very complex.
